Which of the following statements do you most agree with and why:
A.)It is the role of government to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens.
B.) It is the role of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens.

  1. I believe that it is the government's responsibility to help take care of it's citizen's. I agree with this because our government claims to be united and I feel like if we are united then we should help each other out. I feel like apart of having a job that represents the united states is to not only to govern the country with your best ability but help those in need that are poor or sick and need help. The government should have a part in helping the citizens of the united states because they took on the job of representing the US so they should have to help the people inside it. The government should be liable for helping those in need because if they didn't what would become of the people and how would that make the government look?

  2. I think that it's the role of citizens, private organizations, and charities to help their citizens. People are more likely to donate money willingly if they know where its going, because they don't always agree with the way government resources are spent. If they have the opportunity to choose which charity is receiving their money, they know how it's being used. Either way could work, but people would form better communities if they all helped each other.

  3. I agree that it is the role of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. The people who are nice, will be happy and generous to share money to charity's to help those in need. I don't think the government should get to chose where all the money goes, in this case. They might focus it on one thing and all the others would be set aside. Also its better when the people have many options of charity's to chose from and more people will donate for each cost.

  4. I believe that it is the responsibility of citizens, private organizations and charities to help their citizens. First of all, a lot of us can relate to each other in so many different ways. However, the government may not understand what our citizens are going through and may not even care. When you pay taxes, you have no clue where your money is going to. But when you donate to charities you have some clue where your money is going.

  5. I believe that it is the responsibility of the citizens, private organizations and charities to provide welfare of all citizens. Although, the government should actually promote and demonstrate the proper way to organize welfare, the citizens should actually be the ones to proceed. Taxes could go to a multitude of things, but when you donate to charities and pay your own welfare (health insurance, hospital, etc. ) bills, you know exactly what the money is going to and what it is for. A lot of immigrants (especially Illegal Immigrants) would come to the US just to get government welfare. By being responsible for our own well-being would make people more productive, as well as put the government towards more productive and important matters. Although it is private organizations, charities and our own responsibility to ensure welfare and health throughout the nation, I think the government should be able to temporarily assist people in situations such as homelessness, debt, bankruptcy, and mental/physical disabilities, and help them get back on track, or in a better situation. :)

  6. B. Because the government is not responsible for everything the government does enough to help the people. The people need to pay taxes to help the government and to help the other people's welfare. The government has enough on its plate of course the government should help but the people need to pull their own weight. Conner moran

  7. I believe the government is not responsible for citizens. I think citizens should have to work for money instead of the government basically giving out free money to the people who dont work for their own income. If unemployed people are getting money for no reason their is no need to even have a job if you can get paid for not even having one.The government should help citizens out a little bit but not practically lend out free money to the ones who dont work.

  8. I think it is the governments responsibility because the government is supposed to "be the people" and represent the people so they should be held accountable for all poor and sick people. They should provide good health care for all people and not just for a certain class.

  9. I most agree with letter B, that the citizens must provide for themselves. Some of the needy are not being encouraged at all to try to improve their lifestyle, they are being allowed to continue relying on everybody else to pull their weight. If this is the case why don't we all just stop working, and live off government money. The role of each individual is to hold up himself, and keep stable. When some of those less fortunate are not able to do this, that is when, and ONLY when the government and charities should step in to help these individuals realign their life.

I believe it's the responcibility of charities, private organizations, and citizens to provide the health and wellfare of citizens. The government do not need to worry about if citizens have health care or not. If people don't want health care or a retirement fund that's their choice not the governments. Also they should not take taxes to help the misfortunate. Honestly it's unfair to take money for the hardworking people and giving it to people who don't work.

  11. I think it is the responsibility of the government to take care of the people because the governments responsibility to take care of its citizens and if that certain Responsibility is to take on the health care of its people it is what the government has to do.

i think it is the responsibility of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure health and wellfare. i think this because if you are paying for health care and donating to charities you know where your money is going and know that it is ensuring health and wellfare to citizens. the government though should step in when it comes to poverty and homelessness. but i think overall it is the responsibility of the citizens charities and private organizations to be responsible for the well being of the population

  13. I think it is the responsibility of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure heath and welfare. It is more likely that people will donate voluntarily if they know where their money is actually going and who it will be benefitting. Plus I think people would really enjoy the fact that they have an option where their money goes. If we keep relying on the government then people will just start giving up and becoming lazy. Every person should have the capability to manage themselves. I do understand that some specific individuals cannot do anything to improve their situation and in those cases I do believe that the government can step in and help. Otherwise, we should be working together as a community to provide for each other

  14. I think the government should take care of us because there are citizens who cant afford health care and a roof over there head. Our government already kicks down the middle and lower class and only helps the upper class and the very very few who can afford it in the middle class.- cole kreft 3rd hour

  15. I think its the governments job to give the citizens health care and other things. If all of the citizens pay taxes and property tax and things that they have no business in paying for they deserve something in return. I don't think it right to tax for things that shouldn't be payed for. So the least thing they can do is to give us that either way some way there going to charge us in some way to pay for it .

  16. I think that is should be the role of government to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. If our government were to pay for everyone's health care and welfare then their would be some people that get lazy and just do nothing to get out of their financial situations. On the other hand their are other people in the USA who need actual government aid and in that case I believe that the government should help those in need. I also think than every who can support themselves should because they don't need to rely on the government for that, that way the government can use the unused money on other government issues. Our individual communities could also make a difference by aiding others in a time of need. Over all I think it should be the jobs of the people and charities to take care of their own health and welfare and not the government.

  17. I think that it should be the role of citizens to ensure the health and welfare of themselves. The government should not provide money/Health care to those who can achieve these things on their own, but if someone is disabled or elderly, the Government should provide some sort of service to its citizens. All in all I think that people should learn to make their own decisions and that we need to learn from our mistakes. If we don't spend our money wisely, it shouldn't be the Governments issue to deal with.

  18. I think A, because many people can't afford to buy health care and it would help the country be more safe and less disease would spread. A government should be able to take care of all their citizens.

  19. I honestly believe that it is the role of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. First off, the Goverment has enough to worry about, whether it's public affairs, or world issues, like the conflict in Syria for example. The Citizens should take responsibility and keep themselves healthy, which isn't really that hard. As for Health Care, the citizens can choose whatever Health Care they want, because they are smart and the goverment shouldn't have to spoonfeed them. Secondly, the majority of citizens makes up the Middle Class, who have good jobs and can get along quite well, and then the Upper Class who probally get along a bit to well, but hey, they earned it. Those 2 classes can make due with paying for Health Care, Doctors, and keeping the welfare and health of themselves good. Then you have the poverty, or the lower classes. There are plenty of charity programs ran by Upperclass Citizens for these kind of people and the goverment have nothing to do with it, it's coming out of their own pockets.

I believe that instead of one or the other there should just be an even balence. People do need to take care of themselfs that is part of what America is about being free and dictating ourselfs. Examples of this are things like food storage the salvation army or thrift stores. However the government does need to take some of the responciblity as in how they have provided medicare and the social security system or the penton system these are all examples of how the government has provided things to help provide for us. I think that to make it work there is a very delicate balence between the government helping and the people helping themselfs.

  21. I think choice B, because without citizens actually doing something the U.S. would have been totally different. With the citizens that are out there, some commit in order to help make a better society. Also, some citizens work their way up because they wanted to do something about the problems. Take the president for instance. He didn't just get the job as president as soon as he was born, he had to earn and work his way up. He had to put forth the effort and commitment in order to become what he is today. Now, he can take care of the country and its citizens, but what was he before he became president? Just an ordinary citizen, like you me. That is why I think that it is the citizens duty to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens, because it all starts with us.

  22. I think B, because there are always more pressing matters at hand that the government needs to take care of. We're are not toddlers who need the government to hold our hand and take care of us there are problems that we can handle on our own. I also think that the people that are in poverty and can't afford things like this actually make the world a better place, to an extent. This world would be very cruel if there weren't those who we have sympathy for. Sure it's nice if the government is to help but I think that they shouldn't take care of the whole problem, because it's a big problem and it brings people together. The bottom line is we kind of need this problem because it's a common problem and it brings us together to fight it.

  24. I think that both the government and the public should help fix these problems. The government has a responsibility to help those who can't help themselves. But the public has to help too. People and organizations should help those who are in need and should expose bad things that happen to poor and needy. That way the government and people of the public can work together to make poor peoples lives better. By helping them it helps other people and gives them hope that they may live the American dream.

  25. I think that the government is overall responsible to ensure health and welfare. I believe that since the government runs most things then they should have the responsibility to look after the citizens. But on the other hand i believe that people should be able to take care of themselves. They should not have to have people looking out for them and should be responsible enough to take care of themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think that the government should be the one to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. it is the governments job to look after the people. This does not mean that the government just sits around watching the people get sick and die, or get hurt, or starve. Like the government now looks after its citizens with programs or departments like the FDA or like the old pyramid of foods, the government should have been doing its job, which is looking out for its people. Like the government makes laws to for the good of the country, or in other words, the people, the government should have been helping the people that they are serving. The people elect their officials, so the officials could help them. Instead the government became corrupt and the their officials became greedy and in no way looked out for the welfare of the citizens. This caused all the problems Americans faced in that day. That is why the government should ensure the health and welfare of the people.

  27. I think it is the role of the government to provide for its people. However people should not take advantage of it as they do today (welfare). Ordinary citizens should bring the problems to the governments attention and continue to protest until some sort of mutual agreement is made. Common people do not the power nor the authority to issue solutions to all of Americas problems therefore they need the help of others with higher power. So there is now right or wrong answer for this question but it remains that America and its government must work together to achieve success. By providing the necessities needed for everyday life, Americas dream of a happy life becomes closer to a reality.

  29. I believe it is more of the governments job to support its people with health care and welfare for all its citizens. The reason i do not choose B is because its not the peoples duty to keep all citizens healthy and on welfare. Yeah it's cool to help with private organizations and charities like that but they don't half to do it. They do it because they want to not because they have to. On the other hand it IS the governments duty to ensure welfare and healthcare to all of its population or there could be some very unhappy people that could maybe start potential riots. Therefore I believe choice A is a better choice then choice B.

  30. I believe that it is the governments responsability to ensure the health and welfare of the people. It is the goevernments job because, private organizations and charities do not have the tools to ensure the citizens health. These organizations have other things on there plate to handle and thats why the government should be taking care of it. The US citizens pay taxes to the government, the government should use that money to create organizations that focus only on the health and welfare of the people.

  31. I think that it is the peoples job to take care of themselves unless they are physiclly unable to do so. I choose B because I believe humans can all do something about the welfare of others if they just go out and do something instead of complaining about it to the government. We need doctors offices but those are working fine right now. If everyone who really cared about others actualy helped them or even donated money, we'd all be much better off. The government can help if it is really needed, but I'm pretty sure that we the people, if we come together as a people, can figure it out. If everyone does their part, the government will have one less thing to argue about. If the people are eventually not capable to stay healthy, then it is the governments job to step in.

  32. I think it is that it is the job of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. I believe this option simply because people who live beside others who have healthcare issues or who can not take care of themselves know what is going on around them and know how they could at least start to help the community. Charities are a big part of the community and can also realize what's going on and take part to help to improve the environment that those around them live in. The government doesn't necessarily get down to street level with the citizens and therefore may not know the best way to go about caring for those people. ~Megan Real 1st hour

Its the goverments job to look after the people and provide efficent enough heath and welfare to keep the nation healthy. The citizens need a place to go when they are ill. Charities and organizations may not have all the tools to take care of those people. 34. I believe that as a union, a united nations, it is our job together. The government needs to enforce rules and limits or the poorness/quality of living space/working space. The government cannot do everything for us, so we need to pull it off. Citizens, private organizations, and charities need to do services and volunteer to make those less fortunate have the best possible health and welfare possible. 35. As a nation united, I believe that it is both the role government and citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. The government should be making sure that there are people and organizations who specify in the field of health and welfare, such as old folks homes, hospitals, orphanages, social workers, etc. A normal citizen should ensure the welfare and health of those around them.

  37. It should be role of citizens, private organizations, and charities to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. I believe this because our government is supposed to accommodate citizens needs but not to supply them. This only makes sense and is what the founding fathers had in mind when forming our country. They majority did not want a strong federal government which pampers us as the country's people. The way I look at it is too many people reap the benefits of welfare checks from unemployment. Though I feel there is a place for social care for the physically or mentally debilitated.

  38. I believe that it is the role of the citizens to provide their own welfare, but the governments job when they are unable to do so themselves. Many people can't afford to pay for their hospital/medical bills or vaccinations and doctors visits. When they can't it is the governments responsibility to ensure that it's citizens are healthy and cared for. However, the citizens should not be allowed to take advantage of these privileges that are given to them by the government because the money of the taxpayers can be spent in a more efficient way. In conclusion, it is the citizens personal duty to provide their own welfare unless their financial or medical situation doesn't allow them to do so.

I believe that role of citizens should provide their own welfare because people are the ones that put people in to power in the government and it not for the government to decide what the people need and want and if we get to relied on the government we will never get out of the debt and if government gets bankrupt we will fall with them and will have no one pay and the other side it makes more people accountable and work as an economy for small insurance companies so they can have a job.

By doing this, we could choose which organizations to donate to, instead of just paying taxes, not knowing if the money is used for the good of the citizens. We could decide to help one another, and it could be the governments job to raise awareness about how we can help each other, and fund education so that we can have a more productive, working society.

Being a "united" nation I believe that all people should not have to worry about these things, but to worry about other important issues across our country. However, private charities and organizations may also help out with the health care of citizens, but it should not be their duty. The generousness of the national community helps to keep us together. 43. I believe that the citizens are the ones responsible for the well being of this country. The citizens are the one who run this country by deciding how its run and who runs it by electing government officials who make this country run. The citizens in a time of trouble will band together to get what they think they need such as healthcare or the wealth of the United States. They can help though by charity and business can donate to help for schools, hospitals, and housing. This means that the citizens have a big responsibility for there own well being.

  44. I believe it's the government's responsibility to ensure the health and welfare of all citizens. I think this because the government is usually responsible for everything that deals with the citizens such as laws and restrictions. This would mean that they should pay closer attention to what the citizens are eating, or their sicknesses and try to create a solution to keep everybody healthier. They also have the ability to construct hospitals and/or safer tenements/apartments for the citizens to live in, which would be cleaner and wouldn't be as packed with so many families.

  46. I believe it is the government's responsibility to take care of their citizens. Not completely, but most of the time. They have to make sure that no one deathly ill is running around the streets coughing & regurgitating on anyone. But to the people's extent, they should know already that if they're sick, they need to stay home. Now, welfare. It again is the government's responsibility to a certain extent. Of course, they need to make sure that we're not falling down as a nation in welfare. But it is also the people's responsibility because they should spend wisely & get most of what they need, not most of what they want. As for medical bills & such, it all depends on your living situation.

  47. I believe that the welfare and well-being is the job of the citizens. The government can't be expected to baby the country and take care of us completely. After all, some people get annoyed when the government tries to take care of everything and regulate everything. Besides, if the citizens take care of their own welfare it can be shaped to the specific needs of specific people in specific places. People living in the rural areas of the Midwest do not have all the same needs as people living in New York, or Chicago. It would take too much time and energy that is needed to tend to problems that are actually, legitimately the government's job.

I mean, they’re there to help guide us through the good and the bad times. They’re there to protect us and lead us. We don’t just elect officials to stand in as statues for show and intimidation to other countries. The government, if they want to be successful and seen as a powerful leadership to our country they should appear as willing and wanting to help our country, but they can't take care of the well being of our country all by themselves, they need the smaller organizations to act as messengers and workers for them.
